Capt. Thomas Ashby had a big family and it's been suggested over and over he was married two or three times.
but no proven documentation. When i first started to do genealogy after i retired many posts and web pages claimed he was married to Elizabeth Lejau. It has been proven that he was not married to her. She married Col. Thomas Ashby of S.C. He was a son of the Quenby Ashby's of Charleston S.C. who had came from Leicastshire England. He lived and died in S.C. and as far as i know there has never been a comfirmed relationship to the Virginia Ashby's. If Capt.
Thomas were related to them if would have been way back before they came to S.C. As far as i know none of the descendents of Thomas Ashby of S.C. have done the Ashby dna study. Some of the North Carolina Ashbys and the West Virginia Ashbs and the northern Va. Ashbys have tested and shown to be related back to their ancestors but not to each other groups. My cousin Richard Reynolds Ashby was one of the first to do the dna and since then 1/2 dozen
others with paper trails back to Capt. Thomas Ashby have tested and proven to be directly related back to Capt' Thomas or Robert Ashby of Stafford Va but not to the other Ashby familys that tested.
I have not done anything in recent years but i've not seen
anything to prove when or where Capt Thomas Ashby was born or where he came from. Or even who Rose his wife in his will was. there are claims she was a Berry but no proof.
You might contact Ernie Ashby who is a supervisor on the Ashby dna group and see if there have been any recent dna updates to the study and if any of the different familys have been tied to each other.
