There are Ashes in Counties Kerry and Kildare in Ireland; there are also a lot of Ash(e)s in England. The Irish name Ashe is said to be a corruption of the Norman name D'Esse, which came to Ireland in the 12th/13th centuries. It is possible your Ashes descended from Irish or English settlers or convicts who were transported to the Carribean.
