Hi,
I read your message and thought I might have some info to interest you.Unfortunately it's not relating to the Ashforth family that you're looking for, more about the places that you mentioned.I do have a a sort of connection to the Ashforths, my dad's sister was an Ashforth (Mary)- my dad was a Hall, he and his sister did not have the same father.I will ask my cousins if they have any info on the Ashforths for you.
I have lived in Pitsmoor, Sheffield all my life and all our family lived around here, including Mary Ashforth so there could well be a connection somewhere.I know Christ Church very well, it's about 5 minutes walk from my house. If you go to http://www.sheffieldfhs.org.uk/serv_con/cc_pitsmoor.htmhttp://www.sheffieldfhs.org.uk/serv_con/cc_pitsmoor.htm there is a photo of the Church.I also know of the Limes, it was a big old house, again only about 5 minutes away.I know it as a social club rather than a residential house. It was a club for many years, but closed down probabaly about 7 or 8 years ago, and was demolished not long after I'm sad to say. There is an old people's residential home there now.
I hope this is of interest to you, I'll certainly ask my cousins if they know anything about the Ashforth side of their family, and will let you know if I find anything out.
Kindest regards,
Heulwen
