Hello Phil

I'm a newcomer to the genealogy game, but have always had an interest in family history. Saw your post and bells started to peel. My grandfather, George Thomas Ashman, was born in the Rhondda in 1911; his mother came from Nelson in the Rhondda, and his father was brought up in Merthyr (not Merthyr Tydfill) though originally from Cornwall. I'm trying to get hold of more useful info (like names and dates) that may be of use to you. My grandfather joined the RAF just before the war, and moved to West Yorkshire where he met my grandmother. He had several brothers and I believe, one sister.

Hope this is of some help.
