To fill in what happened after Mary Ann and Joseph came to Australia ---

Mary Ann Denning married Joseph Stock. Joseph Stock was born in Leigh upon Mendip in about 1825 to parents Doctor Doctor Stock (not an MD) and Lydia Perry.

Mary Ann and Joseph were married in November 1846 in Trevethen Monmouthshire and departed from Plymouth for Australia in May 1849. They arrived in Sydney Australia on 14 August 1849 with their infant daughter Susan who was born in Monmouthshire prior to departure.

They had 4 Australian born children – Sarah, Emma, Joseph Denning Stock, and my great grandmother Lydia. They were all born around a town called Orange and near Ophir where Australia’s first gold was discovered in the central west of New South Wales.

Mary Ann Stock (nee Denning) died on 25 December 1862 in Frying Pan aged 35 and was buried at All Saints Kelso on 28 December.
