Wondering if you have done enough research to know if you are descended from the Askin family of the 1700s of Canada? I've done a bit of research on that family and have quite a lot of info. If you fit in, you will find the Askin Papers to be quite helpful. Askin was a fur trader who married a French Canadian and he was very active in the mid to late 1700s in the trade, and provided well for his children who carried on the business. He was in the great lakes region but after War of 1812 moved across the lake to the Windsor Border area to be on the side with the British.

Some of his descendants moved to New York.
