I have some Askin info copied from several sources, including the Askin Papers and will be happy to share what I have. The second marriage of the elder John Askin was to a French-Canadian woman related to my lines so I am related to the descendnats from John's second marriage, and have collected some material.

The Askin Papers fill two volumes and some of the serious library resource centers carry copies. I know of at least two sets - one at the public library in downtown Los Angeles (in the genealogy section downstairs) and one that was in the Byron Lewis Library at Vincennes University in Vincennes, Indiana. However, they were in the process of relocating the genealogy material to a new building and I don't know if those volumes remained at the VU campus or moved w/the genealogy collection.

Most probably there is also a set at the Burton Historical Library in Detroit.
