Hi Ivah, It's been a WHILE since we talked.
You may recall I was looking for info on a John Askin Topping. You replied that perhaps there was an Askin in my family.I'd never been able to discover where the name had come from.
Well you where correct. I have to tell you first that It cost me dearly for the info but it was worth the trip to Ireland to get it.

My G-Grandfather Hugh Robert Topping married a gal named Alice Wilson in 1873. or so I thought.
While researching in Dublin I discovered that he didn't marry Alice Wilson. He married Alice Wilson Askin in 1873.

She lived with her father John Askin and a sister Catherine Askin at 42 Aughrim St. Dublin North. If you have a Dublin map, that's near Phoenix park. I don't know John Askin's wife's name, but last name of Wilson might be a starting point.
My G-Grandfather Topping lived at 89 Aughrim St. so the girl next door syndrome it would appear took over.

My info on John Askin is limited to the above facts and that he was in fact a plumber by trade. He might have had a cousin or brother named Paul as there where three Askin's living in Dublin in 1850. John and two Paul's.
Catherine Askin married John Langran who's father happened to own the house on Aughrim St. that the Askins lived in at the time.
The Langran family are also now related to me and I have some of that info as well.
Both George and Bartholomew Langran are mentioned as mourners at my Great Grandfathers Obit.

Perhaps these Askins will provide some help to both of us.

Be well,
Steve.
