Hi Anthony,

Thank you for your email.

I am daughter in law of Eileen Aspley.I am married to her son Stuart Lay. Her father was Charles Aspley, brother of James Henry Herbert Aspley who was killed in WW1. I helped Eileen trace her tree, but sadly now Eileen passed away a couple of years ago. I know of Annie and of your grandmother and family. I have all the records here.

Annie Aspley (nee Cragan), married again after Henry died to a man by the name of Spreadbury. She was a very strict catholic and use to sit and say her prayers by the fireplace most of the day apparently. Eileen took an instant dislike to her. I think because of putting the 3 boys in the home. James didn't have much of a life at all considering he was in the home and killed so very young.

Do you know she kept your grandmother with her and placed the boys in Father Hudson's homes. They were also all in the workhouse. I have the paper work for this.

I have alot of information you are most welcome to if you would like it. You are most welcome to contact me personally if you would like too. I haven't really touched the Aspley line since Eileen passed away, but I have all the papers here with me.

Eileen's brother George won a Military Medal in WW2. He is on the internet if you would like to see photos.

Look forward to hearing from you,

Best Wishes,
