A picture and biography/family history of George Henderson Asselstine is included in "Montana, Its Story and Biography", Vol 2, pgs 564-565

Parents: Henry & Hattie (Bliss) Asselstine. Henry born 7 Jun 1837, d. 28 May 1920. Hattie, b. Louisville, KY, died at age 29. Henry was a carpenter and became a railroad contractor working on the bridges of the Northern Pacific from North Dakota to Missoula, MT.

George, at age nine, sold newspapers, shined shoes & worked in a bookstore in Chicago, IL. In 1890, he located to Great Falls, MT, and was a clerk in Strain Bros. general store. Eventually he successfully engaged in the fruit business under the name Devine and Asselstine.

On 30 Aug 1905, George married Miss Nell Short, born in Kansas. Children: Ruth, George H., Jr.

George H. Asselstine, died 23 April 1963, Flathead County, MT
George H. Asselstine, Jr., died 6 Apr 1885, Great Falls, MT
