Hannah Asselstine b ca 1837 d 1 March 1906 bur
Napanee Riverside Cemetery, Lennox & Addington Co., Ontario. (Tombstone date conflict; it says 1866-1906 or did transcriber misread dates?) M Daniel McCumber b ca 1823, died
15 July 1905 Adolphustown, bur Riverside. Proved ch: ANGELINE McCumber m James S. Vine; MARY McCumber, but problem about her marriages. A
descendant told me of two: Peter Aylesworth from whom she was said divorced, and 2, W.W. Finch, but I found a 3rd m in a Linda Corupe publicaton and that was to George Edward Babcock when she was 18. Probable son: WILLIAM McCumber b ca
1860. Is this the same William in Corupe's transcripts of 1904 Napanee Beaver: "Mr. and
Mrs. William McCumber & 3 ch, spending the past 4 yrs at Hawkesbury, Quebec, spent last week in town with parents Mr. & Mrs. D. McCumber, on their return to Merriton, Ontario." Maybe a 4th ch named SEPHUS? 5th ch: HATTIE who m Andrew LaLonde. 6th ch: PERRY who m Georgianna Farrington then spent 11 yrs in U.S. Army during
Spanish-American War. Maybe 7th ch named WESLEY?
Was there an 8th ch named MINNIE?

I thought I knew Daniel McCumber's ancestry, but descendants dispute that. In 1861 Daniel and
Hannah lived in Sheffield and in household was an 85 year old woman b 1776 upper Canada named Alice but I cannot identify her.

It would appear that Daniel McCumber & Hannah
Asselstine were separated at the time of their
deaths.

On the 1900 Fed US census, Hannah McCumber born Canada March 1837 lived with her dau Mary Aylesworth [sic] at Coldwater, Isabella Co., MIchigan. email: mohoso@webtv.net
