Hi Michelle,
Interesting question. My ASTON family might well be related to the one you have.
While I don't have my Isaiah ASTON married to a Selina Hawkes, I certainly wouldn't rule it out.I have yet to order the birth certificate of my great-grandmother, Florence ASTON.So far the only reference I have for my great-grandmother, within the BMD indexes is her marriage to my great-grandfather in 1893, and her menion [albeit with her name misspelled] on the 1881 census.I admit, however, that I haven't checked with FreeBMD lately for Florence's birth.Once I have a reference number, I can get her birth certificate ... and can then find out her mother's name.
This branch of the family has been one of frustration for me ... both on the TRUMAN and the ASTON side.
Interestingly, my Isaiah had a sister named Selina ... so your post intrigued me simply with that name. It's not one of the more "common" names I've encountered within any of the branches of my family ...
I have no actual proof of Isaiah's marriage[s] except that he's shown as married to a woman named Annie/Ann on the 1881 census. This may or may not be Annie Walker and their marriage could have taken place in 1880.
I have yet to be able to search the 1861 census for Warwickshire ... and have found precious few reference/sources for anyone in my ASTON family.
What information do you have on this marriage to Selina Hawkes? It would be so nice to be able to put some actual "proof" within this line of research!LOL
Also ... what relationship to you are this Isaiah ASTON and Selina Hawkes?
I would have thought with the unusual name of Isaiah, this ASTON line would have been simple to follow ... but even there, the only evidence I have to Isaiah's own birth come from the 1851 census ... and LDS member submitted records, the latter being the most unreliable of all.
Let's see if we can relate your Selina Hawkes ASTON to my Isaiah ASTON!
You can email me direct.
For security reasons, I will not use the actual "@" sign in my email address ... but use the word "at" ...
