I like to hear about a Ates line from Texas. My line start from St. Helena Louisiana around early 1800's Looking to proof Calvin Stephen Ates was our forfather. I only seen a 1830's census with Stephen Ates in La. having 6 boys all under 15 yrs to 3 under 5 yrs. no wife or children named only one female under 30 yrs of age. Not sure if this was Frances Crittenden like people claim. She moved to Ms after 1830's with her 4 boys.I believe one moved make later and started a family in Louisiana and thats how I came to be born in La. My great great grandfather was Samuel H Ates you will notice in one of the census he is named Daniel, because the idiots back then either couldn't listen or couldn't spell, anyway I corrected it on ancestry.com where I continue to find proof of my ancestry.
