In recent correspondence with a Athey descendant In review of my material and looking at the Early Families of Southern Maryland Vol 3 "Marsh". Thomas Athey m. Elizabeth Fenley dau of Charles Fenley and Elizabeth Harris abt 1739. Elizabeth was b. 26 May 1720, Recorded in Index of Church Registers, Vol I, recorded in St. Johns Parish later King Georges Parish Prince Georges Co. MD. I have held these records in my hands when I visited the Church. According to the Marsh account Elizabeth died about 1746 with three children, children named in the church register as Thomas and Elizabeth issues. The Marsh account has Thomas m. Sarah Barker about 1746. A child named Mary baptized 24 Sept 1852 in the church register for Thomas and Sarah.
Early Families of Southern Maryland Vol 5 "Athey". These families have been copied by Family Tree Maker, The Athey account has Thomas first to Elizabeth Fenley, 2nd to Edrie, 3rd to Elinor.
Issues from Elizabeth are Sarah b. 2 Sep 1742, Mary b.30 Oct 1744, and Elizabeth b. 2 Apr 1746. These issues appear in the church register. The Athey account names issues born to Edrie and Elinor, these issues are also named in the Church Register ie, Edrie son Benjamin b. 16 jul 1754.
wife Elinor issue John Queen Athey, b. 24 May 1756, Elenor, b. Sep 1762, Atherelday (f) bapt 13 oct 1765. It appears that Thomas Athey was married at least three times and possibly 4 times. There May be more issues. Those cited appear in my source. My E-Mail; wtfinley@sbcglobal.net
