Hello Bruce. Just wondering if you knew any of your great grandfathers brothers and sisters. As we have a Robert that we have lost track of him after 1891. This Robert Aitken had the following siblings....Alexander born 1849, Catherine who's married name was Stephenson born in 1862ish, John born in 1842, Elizabeth who's married name is McAllister born in 1847, Andrew 1857 (my great grandfather, another Catherine and a Hellen who may have died young and finally Robert in 1865 approx. Got lots more info.
Andrew Aitken married a Sarah Smith and he died in 1891...I am trying to find what happened to Sarah as my grandfather and his sister (William and Mary(who's married name was Martin) were both orphaned at a young age. I do see that our last name and yours are different but I am finding that we have a few different spellings I am finding in records I have found thus so far.
Regards
Cathy Luder
