Thanks for your reply.

My father, William Norman Atkin, did serve in the Royal Navy. He joined in about 1934 (I think), and served until he retired in 1959. So he was serving during the war years.

My Grandparents lived in 1 Gray Street, Elsecar and my grandmother's maiden was Wrightson. She died in 1958.
