Dear Malcolm

My father did have an Aunt Elsie who ran the Post Office in Platts Common. She came to visit us in Malta in 1954 when my father was serving in the Navy. I seem to remember that this was shortly after her husband - Louis - had died. Not sure how close in time the two events were, I was only eleven years old. I can remember visiting the Post Office as a small child, but no detail.

Going through my fathers correspondence after his death some 5 years ago, there is reference to a Geoffrey Atkin in a letter he wrote to my mother during during the war.

It is possible therefore that my Grandfather was Louis' brother. I also remember, only just, going to visit my Great Grandfather who lived in Jump.

My father had a younger brother John Michael Atkin who emigrated to Canada in the mid-fifties.

Somewhere I have a picture of Auntie Elsie taken whilst she was visiting my parents. My mother's name was Anne.

Does any of this ring bells??
