Hello - my Grandfather was Robert Atkin from Newcastle on Tyne.

It seems as though the Robert Atkin you are looking for was his Father, although my Grandfather was brought up by his Aunt. He married Ethel Cartwright from a Newcastle family and served in the First World War - he died in 1966.

The link with Australia arose some years ago when the family there made enquiries to find the little boy who had been the page boy at their wedding before they emigrated. That was my father - Ernest Middlehurst Atkin.

My Grandfahter Robert Atkin worked at the Railway Works in Darlington which at that time was managed by Ernest Middlehurst - my fathers uncle from where he got his middle name.

My father died two years ago.

I would be very interested in purchasing your book.

Paul Atkin
