The Aubrey/Awbrey family of Brecknockshire was prolific in South Wales during the late Middle Ages. Brecknockshire was the home county of the Awbreys of Abercynrig and Ynyscedwin. Glamorgan was the home county of the Awbreys of Llantrithyd - descendents of the Awbreys of Abercynrig, and William Awbrey, Esq., the son-in-law of William Penn, also a descendent of the Awbreys of Abercynrig. South Wales was the Aubrey/Awbrey family's native country.
