New Aubrey/Awbrey book
Posted by: Jon Awbrey (ID *****4338) Date: June 10, 2007 at 16:05:47

I have recently finished a book on the Awbrey/Aubrey family, covering their origin in Brecknockshire, Wales to their eventual decline during the Nineteenth Century. Included are chapters related to the Awbrey family of Abercynrig, Tredomen, Easton Pierce, Clehonger, Llantrithyd, Llanelieu, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and South Carolina. Among these pages, one can find the Awbreys' relationship to the Tudor and Stuart kings and queens, William Penn, the Herbert earls of Pembroke, the Lees of Virginia, and the Awbreys' descent from the ancient Welsh princes. Also, I have compiled a chapter relating the story of the Awbrey family in the American colonies, material entirely new to print that highlights the story of Henry Awbrey, a member of the House of Burgesses, Sheriff of Essex County, Virginia, and one of Virginia's great planters, along with his nephew Francis Awbrey, the most important land speculator on the Potomac River, Sheriff of Prince William County, Virginia, and their descendants, many of whom fought to free the fledgling United States from the rule of George III. Please contact me directly at awbrey@llano.net for more information.
