It might be listed under both spellings, but I think it is under 'Auchmoody' in the DAR Patriot Index - that is where I found the name of his second wife, Dorcas Frederick Eyverie, listed. I descend from his youngest daughter, Rachel Auchmoody Bevier (1749-1822). I think all the children were by his first wife, Maria Deyo. I wrote to the National Archives about 2 years ago and submitted the veterans form in order to see if there was any pension record (from the Rev. War), etc. on James, but there was nothing on him. Therefore, James must not have had a veterans pension or even applied for one.
