Auchmuty > Moody from "Auchterhouse", Angus, Scotland - 1600's

I was wondering if anyone had information that the Auchmuty (multiple spelling variations), might have come from the town of "Auchterhouse", Angus, Scotland?
I have found several MOODIE's there and since the earliest Auchmuty I can seem to find (this morning anyway) in America is Robert Auchmuty who was a known Scotsman, (info from several NEHGR's) this made me wonder if his name were not originally MUDIE or MOODIE and the name was changed to Auchmuty for perhaps some religious uprisings that occured in those parts in the very early histories.
I know Nothing of the Auchmuty name and have just come across this link this morning while searching for my own MOODY family name which seems to have NO links from anywhere. (James Moody born c1745 Where? I cannot find...he married in 1774 Buxton, York Co., Maine, served in the Rvv.War (MA line Continental Army), had 3 children born between Jan. 1774 and Sept. 4, 1785 and then before that last date given, he died leaving nothing of himself or his family that I can find anywhere, not even any Pension records exist from NARA about him and the DAR only has the info I just listed about him).

If anyone can add more to this name possibility I am certainly interested to learn about it.
Thank You.
