Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
I have seen the census materials which would have led the author of the book you mentioned to believe that, but I have a listing of Michael's children, which does not include Washington. Further, the names indicate that Michael was a German Catholic, named Alt, whereas the Aults, whose name was originally spelled that way, are Scots and protestants, from Perthshire. This is the reason I've been confounded at this point.
If there is anyone out there, also descended from Washington and Elizabeth, I would be most grateful for any information possible. As I understand it, Augustus, my Great-Grandfather, never went home after the Civil war and never even wrote a letter home, which would make the rest of the family believe he did not survive the war.
