Ault - Compher - Smith - Loudoun Co, VA
Posted by: Jody Lamb (ID *****6991) Date: July 18, 2004 at 21:00:52

I have an ELIZABETH AULT (born Abt. 1784) who married JOHN COMPHER (born Dec 4, 1773) on April 25, 1808 IN Loudoun Co, VA. John died Apr 24, 1846 and Elizabeth died sometime after 1860 because she is listed on the 1860 US Census.

I have not done any research on the Ault family. While sorting papers after the death of my parents, I found a Xerox copy of a handwritten family tree re the Compher family that was prepared by a Compher descendant living in the Lovettsville area and was dated after 1987. This document shows a JOSEPH COMPHER married to SUSANNAH SMITH. Joseph's father's name doesn't appear, as the Xerox copy left off the first line, but his mother is shown as MARIAH AULT COMPHER. I'm wondering if her name could have possibly been MARIAH ELIZABETH AULT.

SUSANNAH SMITH'S father is shown as Jacob Smith but her mother is shown as "Unknown".

Can anyone provide information re these people? Thanks, Jody
