Hi, again, I have some information in my files on this
which I hope will be helpful. William Alt (Ault), son of
William Alt and Rachel, married on Aug. 20, 1815 Susanna Ulm. They had four children: Maria Anna Ault (1816), Johannes Ault (1818), Wilhelm Ault (1819), and Wilson Ault (1821). I do not know what happened to Susanna (Ulm) Ault
nor who her parents were. On Aug. 2, 1836, this same
William Ault married Nancy (Ann) Thomas, widow of James
Thomas. Nancy Thomas had three children: Martha Thomas
(1825), Mary A. (E) Thomas (1827), and George Thomas (1833).
William and Nancy (Thomas) Ault had five additional children. On Mar. 24, 1846, Maria Anna (Mary Ann) Ault
married Stephen D. Downs. On Nov. 11, 1858, Mary A. E.
Thomas married James W. Downs, brother to Stephen D. Downs.
Stephen D. Downs and James W. Downs were two of the
children of James Downs who married May 11, 1801 Elizabeth
McFarland. (For additional information on this Downs
Family refer to my posting on the Downs Family Forum,
Feb. 11, 2000, msg nr 870.) I have seen no references
as to where James Downs was from other than Pennsylvania.
As for being from Cork, Ireland, I don't know - it is a
possibility - If you have any idea where that information
is recorded please advise - I would like to research it.
((I do have in my files the notes of another researcher
who makes reference to James Downs as "Jr.")
