John David (JD) Ault was my grandfather. He had one daughter, Lorraine Maebell Ault, my mother. She was adopted by her step-father when she was in high school and changed her last name to Zink. JD married Gladys Henke in the late 1920s but divorced soon after my mother was born. Mom passed away in December 2000, but she would have been thrilled that I was taking on the search for the family history. I only remember meeting JD less than a handful of times. He was quite old and passed away when I was still a teenager. I remember he lived in Bishop, CA. I knew that his father was called KD. Until recently I thought that was his name, just like JD. But I found out only 3 days ago that JD was John David and KD was...King David. Who would do that to their kid? I never knew that I was descended from royalty.
