I am not an Ault descendant. I am writing a book on Ontario axe-makers and I want the help of the Ault family in including a proper bio of Nicholas Ault, to recognize his place in the trade. I have a broad axe made by him, marked "N. AULT" twice. There is a marriage bond for Cornwall, Apr 18, 1834 for Nicholas Ault of Osnabruck and Nancy Empey of Williamsburg. Nicholas appears in the ledger of A. Hurd & Co of Maitland, as a journeyman axe-maker, about 1835. He is listed as an axe and edge tool manufacturer in Lenenberg in 1865-6. In 1871 he is a 57 year old blacksmith in Osnabruck. In 1881 he is a 67 year old blacksmith, wife Nancy, daughter Mary, in Osnabruck. I have a list of children (no source) Nancy 1842, James 1844, John 1847, Richard 1850, William, 1852, Abraham 1855 and James. Their birthplaces given as Napanee, Osnabruck or Matilda. Is he a descendant of Nicholas of the KRRNY?
