The Adam of the 1880 census, shown above, was twice married, first to Rachel Farmer and then to Mary Ann Bates. That may be enough for you to identify the ancestral line. This Adam's parents were Adam and Margaret Tinder Ault. That Adam's parents were Daniel Ault/Margaret Crawford. Daniel's parents were Adam Ault/Alt and Susanna Kirkman. Adam Alt was one of the two boys who came to America with their father, Valentin Alt. A bit confusing isn't it?
I suspect you already have all of this information, and only needed to identify the Adam of the 1880 census. Most of my information came from the book by Bill Kincaid, and all of the above is well documented in his book.
