Scott:
You and I are related, though very distantly. Your Roy Alvin Ault is the son of Clarence Oliver Ault and Bessie Mae Ross. Bessie was the second wife of Clarence. The first was Dora Percifield. These marriages and the birth record for Roy are all in the Bartholomew County records. Roy A., Glen Joseph, and Glen Douglas all appear in the Social Security Death Index. Roy's birth date in the SSDI and the Bartholomew County records are identical. Roy A. and Lizzie appear in Columbus, Bartholomew County Directories for the 1940's. I found Lizzie, with her family in the 1930 census for Bartholomew County. Her parents were William and Alice Guthrie.
I could not find Roy in the census records, but I know he was in Columbus. Clarence is also difficult to find in the census. Clarence's parents were Jacob Valentine Ault and Mary Ann Tullis. Your Ault family descends from Valentin Alt, an immigrant from Germany, into Philadelphia, in 1738. The Valentin Alt family has been extensively researched. There are at least three books in the LDS(Mormon Church) Family History Center archives. and several Trees in the Ancestry.com archives.
