Hi David, I've googled australian obituaries and can't find anything. Like you I just saw your reply and there is also a reply from Highclere Ridgley. This person has posted a date of death in 1982 for Nora and a dod for Alfred in 1955, this date for Alfred ties in with what I have already for him. If I could find more evidence of children it would be great. I have a picture my grandfather had and on the back of it it says 'cousin Betty Brazel', so far nothing has come up..... maybe she doesn't want to be found!
Yes all the different spellings are very confusing, I also have Spillanes and Shanahons in my tree and don't get me started on ALL the different spellings there!!
There is a very useful website for certain counties in Ire, its free! Its http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/
certain countries like Dublin it gives burial information, very useful.
I've tried to get into Trove with different .com, .ie .au etc and no good.
