Geniene, I have sent you an email regarding your reply to Rhonda

My husbands great grandmother was aboriginal and she had 5 children to 3 different fathers (all white men) in South Australia
These children were not taken away from her at the time and she cared for them herself with assistance (food rations etc) It was only after she died at 34 that the children were put into Edwardstown Industrial School

This was all long before 1900 and all their births were registered which may be unusual for the time?

We found all this out from government records which were kept for people receiving assistance & food rations/medical assistance etc. If she had not been getting this assistance I doubt there would have been any records about her at all

I know they did remove children at times but this was not in all cases

Jean
