I know there were quite a few insubordinate British Army soldiers who were dispatched here as convicts but before 1840
Ancestry has indexes of convict indents.
I seem to remember a program on TV about Army convicts sent to maybe The Ivory Coast ???........ was some Fort , name of which escapes me.
