I think you have your dates and names confused. Herbert HARDAKER/HARDACRE was born c1860 and on his Queensland death reg. his parents are named as Jonas HARDAKER/HARDACRE and Sarah Ann BUTTERFIELD. It is highly unlikely that he would have a brother who was born c1825 - Jonas and Sarah did not marry until 1847 and were far too young to have a son who was born then.

The James HARDAKER who served with the 52nd Infantry died in Massachusetts (see my previous post) and is probably no relation.

Where did you get the information that a Civil War soldier named James HARDAKER immigrated to Australia?
