I have been looking everywhere for John Jasper Wilson. Just needed a fresh pair of eyes to take a look.
I had searched the Trove Newspapers and already found the report on (Jasper Wilson storekeeper, was fined fifteen shillings for "being too great a distance from his horse and dray" in Hindley Street.)
I had checked all the States BDM's and found no deaths for him either. Have also checked the NZ BDM as well and can't find him.
On UK Free BDM there is a death of John Jasper Wilson, March Quarter 1903 aged 70 in Burnley, Lancs. This John Jasper Wilson was b.abt 1833 so could possibly be him.
Found a newspaper report in Papers Past - Hawera & Normanby Star, Volume XXXIV, Issue 3770, 12 February 1898, Page 2 (About 12 months ago Miss Violet Robinson accompanied by her Grandfather, Mr Jasper Wilson, went for a trip to the old country. ........ Violet left England for New Zealand on the 20th July.) Newspaper didn't say if John Jasper Wilson came back with her, nor what year she returned. Violet Robinson was the Grand daughter of Maria Williams (Wills) Wilson formerly Old
I have not found the ships they travelled on either way between England and NZ, nor any passages from Ausralia to New Zealand yet. Still looking, I have been checking the Immigrant shipping records.
Thanks for taking the time to look at records for me.
