I am looking for information on William Nicholes, born in 1823, migrated to America participated in the American Civil War and them migrated to Australia, where he died; in the Ovens Benevolent Asylum at 92 years of age, June 9, 1915 and was buried on June 12, 1915; Beechworth Cemetery. Nicholes once lived in Violet Town, a town in northeastern Victoria. Any information or pictures relating to him and/or his family will be appreciated. I want to be able to confirm his military service so a free military marker can be acquired for his grave. All help will be appreciated. Contact jamesmgray@bigpond.com.
