An Aten/Auten reunion (and other descendants of Adriaen Hendrickse Aten) is planned for August 2-4, 2002 in Somerset, New Jersey on the site of the first Aten farm (now a fine motel) in New Jersey. The tentative plan is to have the main activities on Saturday August 3rd, including visits to some local Aten/Auten sites, talks on history of the times, and tables to display Aten/Auten family materials. There will be some activity on Friday evening, and family will share Sunday breakfast. Some may wish to come early to do research at the Somerset County Historical Society or the archives in the Alexander Library at Rutgers in nearby New Brunswick, or to see historic sites in the area.
For those who have time on Sunday, a car caravan will drive to the site of the Aten Ferry and Aten cemetery in Mt Bethel, Pennsylvania.
Those who would like to attend, could help with logistics or with needed upfront funding, or would like to bring materials for a display table, please respond by email to <miss_mamie@hotmail.com> or <jauten@prairienet.org>
Special thanks to Jerry,John,Phyllis and Tom for all their work on this project. we hope to see you there. Best wishes, Mame
