Hi Auten Researchers:

John Auten was my great grandfather. John was b. Dec 28 1836- in Chili New York.
John's parents were: James VanDyne Auten and Phebe Giles. They were early settlers in upstate New York.
Their children were Catherine Auten, James VanDyne Auten John Auten and Susanna Van Dyne Auten.
James VanDyne's parentage is believed to be Hendrick Aaten

John Giles Auten had one son, Charles Homer Auten b. August 24 1877.
Charles married Daisy M Sharp, B. July 11 1877.
Charles and Daisy had the following children:
Rhea Lillian Auten B. May 4 1905-Died 1923
Berle John Auten B. February 7 1908
Mernie Irene Auten B. June 25 1910 ( This is my mother, still living)
Leo Auten- stillborn
Lyle Auten B. Oct. 4 1915
Wilma J. Auten B. June 24 1918
Essie Eileen Auten B. August 15 1921.
John migrated to Branch County Michigan.

Charles and Daisy lived in Branch County. The children all lived in Branch, Hillsdale or St. Joseph Counties of Michigan--along the southern Michigan-Indiana state line.
