Hi - reply to JWGarcia. My ancestor is also Jose Calixto Ayala. I haven't found the record where he came to California; although Marie Northrup has 1774 in her book. He was born about 1763 at Real de Cozala, Sinaloa, Mexico. His parents were Nicolas Ayala and Maria Ygnacia. I'm descended from his son, Jose Antonio Apolinario Ayala and Maria de la Nativad Ruiz. The origin of the Ayala name is really interesting. Thanks.

Lorraine
