My great-grandmother was named Refugia Leyva De Ortega. She lived in Santa Barbara at the time of her death. I have been hunting information about her family for some time. My grandmother was one of several children. Her name was Josephine (Josefine?/Josefina?) Mildred, and she was born in 1904. I know she had sisters named Elvira and Margaret. Refugia's younger children were sent to a convent run orphanage at her death. I don't know that the spelling for Leyva is correct. Your way is a possibility. Do you think we might be a match?
