Hi Carol,
Sorry it took me so long to back to you!I have my Jesse Ayling b. abt 1809.I don't have his parents, but I have a new lead.I recently ordered the 1851 census of Berkhampstead where I knew Jesse and family were at that time.Listed in his household is a nephew John Ayling b. Alton, Hants and in another household was an Isaac b. Alton, Hants. They were woodturners evidently working for their Uncle, my Jesse. The census said he emplyed 7 people and was a woodturner.I had also ordered the Alton Parish bishops's transcripts hoping to find Jesse .. no luck .. but I did find both Isaac and John, parents James and Sarah Ayling. This James would be Jesse's brother.I also found this James' birth, parents James and Mary Isaacs. (This couple should be my Jesse's parents.)They had several children one named Isaac also. This James is listed in the IGI as child of David and Elizabeth Ayling.I haven't completely finished the transcripts, but I didn't see James' christening, but I have ordered the parish records. James did name his first child David. My Jesse named his first son David James!!!!I hope I can find Jesse's birth in the Parish records. One note ... the IGI didn't include the two girls that James and Mary had listed in the bishop's transcripts, if they skipped girls then maybe they thought Jesse was one and didn't transcribe the name ?????Hopefully the film will get here the film will arrive soon.
Debbie
