Polly Babb Quillen, 97, of Kingsport, Sullivan Co TN,
passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at The Wexford House
in Kingsport after a lengthy illness.
Polly was born December 2, 1910 in Scott Co VA, to Worley
Cleveland Babb and Sally Marie Williams Babb. She was a
homemaker and attended Fall Creek Baptist Church before
her illness.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr.
Robert Williams, Dr. Richard Reed, Joanne Thompson, Carrie
Woodard and to her special neighbors.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her
husband of 42 years Maynard Hershell Quillen in 1971 and
sisters Vada Peters, Cora Lane, Dora Bowen and one brother
Olin N. Babb, Sr.
Surviving are Sons; Bob L. Quillen and wife Diana, Sebring,
FL, Larry W. Quillen and wife Mildred, Kingsport, TN;
daughters, Barbara 'Jackie' Quillen Long and husband
Wayland, and Ella Ruth Quillen, all of Blountville, TN;
eight Grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and
fifteen great-great-grandchildren; brother, John Carl
Babb, Kingsport, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday,
March 13, 2008, at East Lawn Funeral Home and at other
hours at the residence of a daughter, Jackie Long.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday March 14,
2008, in the chapel with the Rev. Johnny Bowen and the
Rev. John Irwin officiating.
Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers
will be family members.
Those wishing may make memorial contributions to the
organization of the donor’s choice.
