Thanks for the info! My Babb ancestors came to America in the late 1600's - apparently one was a pirate/butcher based on the Isles of Shoal off Maine, and the other was Master of a ship that went between England and America.

My grandaddy always said his family were Irish, but all his family died in the flu epidemic of the 1870's and Grandaddy was only 7, so I did my research instead of relying on what he remembered -- but it seems he could have been right! It's an unusual name, and all Babbs may be out of the same bucket! Thank you, Beverly Babb Elliott
