Thank you very much for all the information. Robert Babbage sent Caroline Wilson a picture of himself in his fireman's uniform which ended up in a box of pictures a relative of my daughter-in-law has many old pictures from her mother that she is trying to identify. It might help if I had information before 1880. Joseph Babbage was born in Illinois. He might connect with the Hewitt's of Sterling, IL. The Hewitt's are related by marriage to the sister of Hezekiah Brink who founded Sterling.
