Ava, his name was Darius Smith Babcock- I have a file on him but have never been certain who his parents were. I have Darius and his second wife up to 1891 in Lambton or Bothwell county in Ontario but can't find them after that, or a dod for him.

I am in midst of working on L & A County and Frontenac Babcock's so might be able to tackle him again.

On Jan. 27, 1869 he married Anna Tryon whose first husband was George Loveless, son of Marshal Loveless and Mary Aulthouse/Althouse.

That Tryon line is a challenge in itself. I suspect Anna was the daughter of a William Tryon who was killed in L & A County in 1834 when a roof collapsed on him- he left behind ten children.

Interestingly enough I have a David Babcock who married a Polly Tryon in Ernestown, April 27, 1815. I have no idea which David this is, unless he is the son of Benjamin and Rachel (nee Decker).

I suspect there is a lot of missing and perhaps false information accumulated about several different David Babcock's, it would take a bit of work to try to sort them all out.

Darius Smith Babcock was married a first time to a woman named Nancy who is given surname Loveless, but I don't know who her parents were or if that is her correct maiden name. I have names of eleven Babcock children for Darius and his first wife; none recorded so far from his second marriage but I have not worked on this family in a very long time. Anna Tryon had at least five children with her first husband George Loveless.

Nora
