I am new to family trees and thought I would start with an ancestor who had a more unusual name. I was thrilled to find, from this site, that Baber is a Somerset name. My g.g.grandmother was Elizabeth Baber. She married John Bamford, date not known, but they had a son Joseph in 1867 and lived in the Kingswood area of Bristol. Has anyone come across Elizabeth in their research?
I know she was illiterate as she marked Joseph's birth certificate with a cross.
