This notice appeared in the Lafayette Advertiser newspaper of Lafayette, LA May 7 1887: "Notice. Land Office at New Orleans, LA March 29th, 1887. Notice is hereby given that the following named settler has filed notice of her intention to make final proof in support of her claim and that said proof will be made before the Judge or in his absence, the Clerk of the District Court, at Lafayette, La., on Monday May 23rd 1887, viz: JOSETTE OPHELIA BABINEAU, widow of Joseph B. Babineau, deceased,who made Home Entry No. 7461, for the Lot No. Two (2) Sec. 31, Tp. 8 S.R., 4 East, La, Meridian. She names the following witnesses to prove her continuous residence upon, and cultivations of, said land, viz: Desire Hebert, Alfred Fores??r, Vincent Hernandez, and Alcide Monton, all of Lafayette parish, Louisiana.
