Babington Family Genealogy Forum

I am researching part of the family tree for Babbington/Babington of (early 1800's) Wolverhampton and prior to that probably Tutbury in Staffordshire. George Babbington, a specatcle maker and locksmith, had three brothers, William (key maker), Joseph and John (both spectacle frame makers) in Wolverhampton. Their mother was Mary and father almost certain ly John. George was transported to Sydney in 1937 for 7 years for theft of a tea kettle. Like most convicts he did not return after receiving a pargon in 1942. His son George, a blacksmith, made part of the iron armour for the Kelly Gang, lead by Australia's most (in)famous bushranger Ned Kelly. I would like to find out more on the Staffordshire Babbington & Babington families.
