Mary Babington marriage 1809, NJ
Posted by: Jane Garoutte (ID *****4478) Date: September 21, 2009 at 19:08:10

According to the 1985 edition of "The Garoutte History" written by Ellan Douglas Theisen, Mary Babington was born 27 Feb 1795, and on 27 Feb 1809 she married James Smith Garoutte (b. 22 Jul 1792 in Pemberton, New Jersey), in New Jersey, supposedly Pleasant Mills.

Perhaps because the county in which Pleasant Mills has changed over the years, I have been unable to locate a marriage record for them. Any suggestions would be welcome.

I am hoping to verify the parents of Mary Babington or Babbington. One possibility is that Mary may be the daughter of Thomas Babington b. 23 Oct 1775 and Martha (maiden name unknown)

Thomas son of Christopher Babington, b. 1725 Benniworth, Linconshire, England d. Feb 1811 in Old Bolingbroke, Lincolnshire, England m. (1st) Susannah Wilson.
Christopher m. (2nd) Anne White
Christopher m . (3rd) Elizabeth O'Grabley

Would like to talk to anyone having this family in their files. Especially interested proving or disproving that Mary Babington wife of James S. Garoutte is the same Mary Babington, daughter of Thomas Babington.
