Hello, My name is John-Paul Babbington, I am from London in the UK and I am very proud to be a Babbington and am heartened to see the work everyone has put into the "Family". I am the last in my part of the family Babbington line, my father died when I was in my teens having not told me much about the family prior to 1914. What I do know is that (and am very proud of the fact) was my grandfather Sidney (Joseph/Richard ?) Babbington was already an Gunner in the 23rd Battalion, Royal Field Artillery prior to World War One and was shipped 3 days after the war started. He made it through ending up as Sergeant winning the 14th Star and became a Bus Driver in London. I do not know when he died but Stepney does feature in there somewhere. He was married to Laura but they seperated after coming back. My father was raised in Hampshire by his grandmother (whose name I do not know) but I do not have any current contact with family there. My father had two sisters one called Peggy, the other I do not know. Both have sinced passed away and I do not know where their relatives are (Canada I think) Dad was in World War Two as a Naval Lieutenant on a Minesweeper's and was clearing the mines at around 4.00am 6th June 1944 in and around Normandy !! He died ni the mid 80's. I do not know if my grandfather was from Hampshire or elsewhere, which is possible as I have seen the family line (looking at all the posts) decend down through the UK from the North, through Lincoln and the Midlands. I am guessing that he would have been born in 1885-1890(ish) and had my father in 1910 aged 20 to 22, assuming he lived to 60 years he would have died around the 1950. I really would like to break through to the 19cth bit of the family and start feeling connected to main family!! Please please can anyone help..... Notify Administrator about this message?
