Hi Diane,
Thanks first of all for more different spellings..lol..
surnames: Le BACCHELET/BACHELET/BRASSLET/BRASELAY/BRASSELET.etc
Origin- Normany, France>>Canada>>Maine.
A lot of the Canadians who stayed in Maine after the War, changed their last names to English names( ex: BRASSLET to BRASSLEY..this is where varied spellings occured mostly.
"dit" = it is a nickname of sorts to different branches of a family's name..to distinguish one from another..thats what i was told..
So the above surnames to dit-CASSISTA(also spelled CASISTA) was formed..heard a french man pronounce it from Island Falls, Maine as "cuss sea toe" and here is what I have.(Hope this is helpful)
2nd Marriage of :
Jean-Joseph-Hilaire CASSISTA-BACHELET married Angelique ASSELIN at St Roch des Aulnaies on Nov27 1827. Jean and Angelique had 6 kids: Jean-Baptiste, Augustin,Narcisse,Joseph,Cesarine and Mathilde.
Cesarine(above)(Seraphine) was married twice:(my records)
1). Francois PROULX at St Roch des Aulnaies 1867.
2). Pierre PELLETIER at Ste Louise 7 Sep 1885.
ok now follow me..
Narisee, the son of Narisee (above), married Philomene VERRET , 5 July (Juillet) 1859 at La Pocatiere. they had 2 kids:
1). Arthemise married David EMOND 1879.
2). Cesaree married Onesime OUELLET 26 Sep 1882. at La Pocat.
